The Ashram was founded by V. Visvanathanand Traude Englert in 1996, as a non-profit, charitable Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
The administrative and legal framework for the founders' and the ashram's social work activities is the Aum Pranava Ashram Trust.
V.Visvanathan was born in Nellikuppam, near Pondicherry (Madras/Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. After completing his school education, he took up work in the Administrative
Department of the "Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning" in Puttaparthy, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Traude Englert was born in Austria where she completed her school education. She studied at the University of Vienna and worked at the English Department of the
University.
After their marriage in 1995, their daughter Savitri was born in Tenkasi in September 1996.
Besides their mutually deep spiritual interest, their dedication to help the less fortunate people forms the basic seed of the Aum Pranava Ashram.
The ashram has been supported by good-hearted souls since its establishment in 1996. We are ever looking forward to expand our social work for society - and we are ever grateful for an increasing number of supporters. THANK YOU.
